Stock return calculator
What a stock position returned, price and dividends together, in total and per year.
Total return vs price return
A stock's price change leaves out the dividends it paid. Total return counts both, and the annualised figure (a CAGR) puts holdings of different lengths on one scale.
The formula
Total return = (sell price + dividends − buy price) ÷ buy price; per year, (1 + total return)^(1 ÷ years) − 1.
Track every position this way automatically, with trades, dividends and splits, in an Investingly paper portfolio.
