CAGR calculator
The steady yearly growth rate that turns a starting value into an ending value.
What CAGR means
Compound annual growth rate is the single yearly rate that, applied every year, gets you from the starting value to the ending value. Real growth is never that smooth; CAGR is a way to compare things that grew over different periods on one scale.
The formula
CAGR = (ending value ÷ starting value)^(1 ÷ years) − 1
Using it
Use it for revenue, earnings, free cash flow or an investment's value. Every company's stock page shows the free cash flow CAGR next to the growth its price implies. CAGR hides the path: a stock that fell 50% and recovered can show the same CAGR as one that rose steadily.
