Earnings per share growth

How fast profit per share is growing.

EPS growth = (EPS this year ÷ EPS last year) − 1

Earnings per share can grow faster than revenue when margins widen or the company buys back shares, and slower when it issues new ones. Over long periods share prices tend to follow it.

Where it misleads. Growth from a depressed base looks enormous, and buybacks funded with debt raise EPS without improving the business.
